TO THE ETI-OWO, CAPACITIES, AND ANOMKPO-INAM

There's a general saying in Ibibio that says: " Mkpo abunam akang ifang yak adioƱo idem?".

Before you call your self capacity, Eti-owo, Anomkpo Inam, etc.. ask yourself; is there anything good I have attracted to my house? You can't be making the silly mistake of branding and adorning yourself with all manners of names when your house is not in order.

You navigate your way through poor state of roads in your local government just to go for political rallies and campaigns during the wee hours of the political season and you are not ashamed of the capacity you named or paid someone to name you.

Uyo has become your paradise while the place you hail from has become a a resavoir for political mandates and votes.

Oga boss when would you see the need to attract something good to your LGA?

When would you know that your LGA can look like  Shelta Afrique in Uyo?

When would you know the values of your people and the fact that they are your political power house?

You prefer to host your LGA meetings in Uyo because the road to your LGA is inaccessible.

You know that your people are cheap enough for you to feed them with remnants from your table, after all they have not been complaining.

You like the idea of being the King Kong of your LGA and a demi god too.

You are in charge Oga Boss.

The political will of your people revolves around you.

You have the final say in anything politics in your LGA but you can't boost of anything good in this political domain of yours.

Oga Boss, we are tired.

We are tired of seeing Toyota Hilux drive through our community once in four years to beg for votes with peanuts in exchange for it.

We are tired of you giving us audio promises and after you get our mandate, you open your nyash to us.

We are tired of worrying about how we will survive come every rainy season because of bad roads.

We are just tired of your deceits.

2023 is fast approaching and we are sure you have saved some fractions of the wealth you used our mandate to acquired in order to feed us on your way to the throne.

Oga Boss know that some of us will be difficult to buy this time out and some of us would not be bought at all.

If you are reading this Oga Boss or your 5k men to boys are reading it, know that it won't be easy come 2023.

No insult attached.

Reality of life is staring at our face.

DON'T LEAVE WHEN IT IS TOO LATE.

The story . Udauk was too weak to continue with the evening chores around the house because of her pregnancy. She bent over the kitchen cabinet in search of a tuber of yam she was to prepare before her husband returned from work. At the point of stretching her hands to reach the tuber of yam under the cabin, she felt a sharp pain down her abdomen. Her left lap was swollen from the beating she got the previous night from the monster's husband. She was still short of three months from her due month. That's when she was to put to birth. The shape pain was accompanied by a loud scream. She dropped the knife she had with her and tried to settle on a table-size stool lying close to the gas cylinder in the kitchen, but she couldn't. She fell and started screaming, reached out to her phone, and dialed her husband. Mr. Sam had branched  Madam G's Native Kitchen to settle for a while before heading home as his habit demands. He was busy at his usual joint with a bottle of chill

JOURNEY OF NO RETURN.

The story. The atmosphere was heavy, that of apprehension and uncertainty as Iquo stared at the open space leading into the compound. It was around 10:33pm that evening.  A time in Ikot Ekim community when every household had put off their lamps and retired to bed. The nocturnal sound of night creatures made the night even more looming and intense.  Nsek has never stayed out so late no matter how fierce any argument with his wife was. In their 24 years of marriage, no matter the nature of the fights Iquo has had with her husband he will always come back home to rest in his hut.  As time ticked away, she stared at the open compound, struggling to fend off the call of nature with the hope her husband would appear at the far end of the compound.  Using her hand to support her chin, she wondered how things could change so fast. Her husband Nsek was no longer the man she married. He picked fights at every little argument and would end the night with curses, accusing Iquo of turning his on
